The last decades, in an effort to transform the mental health system, the adoption of social psychiatry principles and the development of Community Mental Health Services (CMHS) over inpatient hospitalization have gradually highlighted the need to evaluate the outcome of therapeutic interventions, as well as the effectiveness-efficiency of the services provided. Quality of life and satisfaction are now projected as an equally important indicator of an evaluation process, as is clinical outcome. The purpose of this article is to present the basic principles of the organization and the evaluation of mental health services and to highlight the need for a redesign of the mental health system in order to address the challenges of providing services and to ensure their high quality.
Key words: Community mental health services, Evaluation, Hospitalization, Quality of life, Satisfaction.
