The modern era is heavily influenced by digital applications in every aspect of life, as many daily activities now take place online. The process of digitization has been further accelerated by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This development has also had an impact on the healthcare sector, where numerous applications have been created for health and fitness monitoring, healthcare planning and management, and educating individuals about health-related issues. International studies recognize the challenges faced by the elderly, as most of them are not familiar with using technology and the internet. Despite the potential significant benefits, the digital age offers them, cognitive, sensory and physical limitations make it difficult for them to use online services easily and effectively. Consequently, they experience an informal exclusion from accessing digital services relevant to their daily lives, and it can even lead to broader social exclusion. However, it is believed that with appropriate interventions, the elderly can derive substantial benefits from utilizing information and communication technologies (ICT). This would enable them to age actively, with safety, independence, autonomy and an increased level of well-being.
