A 55-year-old man with asymptomatic hyponatremia

Hyponatremia is an electrolyte abnormality commonly encountered in clinical practice. It is rarely the major or the only clinical manifestation of a serious underlying disease, however. The case is presented of an otherwise asymptomatic man with severe hyponatremia attributed to the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion due to small-cell lung carcinoma.
